Noble REMC works closely with federal, state, and local agencies, as well as township trustees and nonprofits, to obtain assistance for our members. We recognize that many in our community are facing challenging times, but there are several resources available to help you pay your energy bills:
Energy Assistance
Resources to help you with energy costs
LIHEAP: Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program
LIHEAP is a federally funded grant program that helps low-income households meet their immediate home energy needs. LIHEAP funds are distributed through local Community Action Agencies (CAA) in each county in Indiana, a list of which can be found at https://www.in.gov/ihcda/homeowners-and-renters/low-income-home-energy-assistance-program-liheap/.
For eligible members, the REMC may not:
- terminate residential electric service from December 1 through March 15 for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for assistance under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) under IC 4-4-33, or
- terminate residential electric service on any day for which the National Weather Service has forecast, within the preceding 48 hours, a heat index of at least 95 degrees Fahrenheit for the customer’s service area, for any customer who is eligible for and has applied for LIHEAP assistance under IC 4-4-33 during the current calendar year.
Brightpoint

Township Trustees
Trustees are elected in each township to help those in need obtain certain necessities, including aiding with utility bills. Each township and county handles these requests for assistance differently. Contact information for your trustee should be available on each county’s website or the in.gov website.
