Noble REMC - Where safety is the standard and customers are the priority!

Noble REMCs commitment to safety is so important that we put it in our mission statement (above). Our main service is providing electricity. Electricity must be respected for its awesome power and what it does for us daily. Working with it daily necessitates the most stringent safety practices.

Noble REMC has been nationally recognized for safety performance. For 18 years, the REMC has received the “Gold Seal Safety Accreditation” from the National Rural Electric Safety Accreditation Program.

All employees are trained to do their jobs with employee and public safety in mind—always. Safety is communicated to school children and adults alike with various programs and publications. The REMC also promotes the outstanding safety website Safe Electricity via safeelectricity.org.

A little known practice is that employees observe power lines for hazards daily. Lines along private right-of-way are inspected annually. We trim trees near power lines to prevent branches from falling on power lines causing not only outages, but the risk of fallen power lines creating a dangerous situation.

Safety information is presented in the Electric Consumer and brochures. A small table-top electric safety demonstrations is presented in elementary schools each spring and is available for clubs or organizations. Call 1-800-933-7362 and ask for Kevin to schedule a program.

The goals of this safety program include protection of the public and employees as well as protection of equipment that saves on maintenance and insurance costs.

Call before you dig!

Avoid a dangerous and costly situation. If you’re doing any digging near where a power line may be buried, call FIRST. Many times consumers don’t know where a line may be buried. The best practice is to call and have it located to remove all doubt.

Noble REMC is a member of the Indiana Utility Underground Plant Protection Service, known as Holey Moley! Call them at 1-800-382-5544. State law requires that you give two working days notice as a lead-time. If it is in our service territory we will locate and mark underground line for you.
